Changing the pilot bushing for 2014 KTM 450 SX-F XC-F
Preparatory work
Remove the spring.
Disassemble the damper.
Disassemble the piston rod.
Disassemble the seal ring retainer.
Main work
Press pilot bushing out of seal ring retainer with the special tool.
Slide the new pilot bushing onto the special tool.
Position the pilot bushing in the seal ring retainer using the special tool.
Support seal ring retainer with sleeve of the special tool. Press the pilot bushing all the way in.
Lubricate the special tool.
SHOCK ABSORBER, SWINGARM 2014 KTM 450 SX-F XC-F
Condition
The damper has been disassembled.
Measure the inside diameter on both ends and in the middle of the damper cartridge.
If the measured value is greater than the specified value: Change the damper cartridge.
Check the heim joint for damage and wear. If there is damage or wear: Change the heim joint.
Removing the heim joint 2014 KTM 450 SX-F XC-F
Condition
The shock absorber has been removed.
Clamp the shock absorber in the vise using soft jaws for protection.
Remove the collar bushing of the heim joint.
Turn the shock absorber and remove the second collar bushing of the heim joint.
Bleeding and filling the damper 2014 KTM 450 SX-F XC-F
Before working with the vacuum pump, be sure to read the operating instructions carefully, Completely open the adjusters of the rebound and compression damping.
Remove the screw of the filling port. Install adapter on the damper.
Connect the adapter to connector of the vacuum pump.
Clamp the damper with soft jaws or hold it as shown in the figure.
Clamp the damper only lightly.
The filling port must be at the highest point.
The piston rod slides in and out during filling - do not hold it tight with your hand!
Clamp the control lever as shown in the figure.
EXHAUST 2014 KTM SX-F EU/US, XC-F
Remove all screws from the main silencer.
Remove silencer cap oand O-ring
Remove outer tube and O-ring
Pull the glass fiber yarn filling from the inner tube
Clean the parts that are to be reinstalled.
Mount the new glass fiber yarn filling on inner tube
Slide O-ring and outer tube over the glass fiber yarn filling.
Insert O-ring and silencer capo into outer tube
Mount and tighten all screws.
EXHAUST 2014 KTM SX-F Factory Edition
Drill out all rivets on the main silencer and remove steel strips o. Carefully knock the rivets inward.
Take off silencer cap and outer tube
Pull the glass fiber yarn filling from the inner tube
Clean the parts that are to be reinstalled.
Wind adhesive tape around the end of the inner tube.
Mount the new glass fiber yarn filling on the inner tube.
Remove the adhesive tape from the inner tube.
Slide outer tube over the glass fiber yarn filling.
Insert silencer cap into the outer tube.
Position steel strips and mount the rivets.
